How can you document the elusive stuff myths are made of? That is what the furtive chalk graffiti on freight train wagons is, the fleeting consecration of their anonymous creators. The word “graffiti” stands for an art with schools and aspirations, very different from that other fleeting and legitimately popular art, which may bring to Argentinian minds the painted messages on the rocks of Mar del Plata. Bill Daniel pulls it off by getting onto those bare wagons with his camera, by traveling with those who load them and the tramps who use them.

Wanja is a documentary about “the Block”, through the eyes of Auntie Barb and the life of Wanja, her blue heeler dog, recently deceased. The community on the Block's many and varied stories of Wanja reflect on the issues affecting this indigenous community in the heart of Sydney. Auntie Barb is an elder of Redfern's community: Wanja was an integral part of the community, known to all for her ability to sniff out the police -in uniform and undercover- “the Block's guardian angel”. Through Wanja, Aunty Barb and the community's memories of this tenacious, loyal, smart and loving dog tell of the early days on the Block when there were elders and families, good housing and a strong sense of community. The stories of Wanja tell us how the tension between the community and police escalated, why the housing has continued to deteriorate and largely been demolished, and why the strength of the community - it's elders, moved on. Aunty Barb was one of the last elders forced off the Block. In spite of this, Aunty Barb continues to call the Block her community and home.

The CCIODH (International Civil Human Rights Watch Commission) travelled to Oaxaca-Mexico between the 16th of December 2006 and the 20th of January 2007, and interviewed 420 people involved in the conflict. The Commission has recorded 23 deaths since the 16th of May 2006. This video documents the Commission's visit through interviews with prisoners, authorities and activists who have no choice but to go underground.

City planners decide to pull down parts of Shanghai's old town in order to regenerate the city. Every year more than one hundred thousand families are forced to leave their homes and move into buildings on the edge of city. Under construction is a two- and three- dimentional flight across the now destroyed living areas of Shanghai which shows how random and brutal decisions can affect peoples's lives.

When Israel withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982, the city of Rafah was suddenly split, between Egypt and Gaza, by an immense metal and concrete wall. Families found themselves divided by a highsecurity international border, though their houses often lay less than 100m apart. Before long, influential families moved their business underground, through dozens of secret tunnels burrowed below the Israeli border fence. Everything moves through Rafah's tunnels: from cigarettes and drugs to cash and people. It is a vast enterprise, and pays five times the average annual Gaza salary in one month. It is a family business, passed on from father to son and always - for reasons of security as well as economics - kept in the family.

To Exist is to Resist is the testimony of a fight that goes beyond the borders of the country where it takes place: the fight for a home. The film offers a reflection on private property from the perspective of those who have already taken over more than 160 buildings in the country of the Bolivarian Revolution. Throughout the film, we are taken into the heart of the “National Committee for the Homeless” by means of its main protagonists, dreamer-soldiers, “tomadores”, who take abandoned buildings in order to give them back to the people who built their ceilings and walls, and could only look at the locked door from the outside...

A hand-processed portrait of Jake Williams – who lives alone within miles of forest in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Jake always has many jobs on at any one time, finds a use for everything, is an expert mandolin player. He has compost heaps going back many years. He has a different sense of time to most people in the 21st Century, which is explicitly expressed in his idea for creating hedges by putting up bird feeders. It struck me straight away that there were parallels between our ways of working - I have tried to be as self-reliant as possible and be apart from the idea of industry - Jake's life and garden are much the same - he can sustain himself from what he grows and so needs little from others. To Jake this isn’t about nostalgia for some treasured pre-electric past, but more, a very real future.

Thirty years ago, with these words, a group of young American radicals announced their intention to overthrow the U.S. government. Fueled by outrage over the Vietnam War and racism in America, they went underground during the 1970s, bombing targets across the country that they felt symbolized “the real violence” that the U.S. government and capitalist power were wreaking throughout the world. From pitched battles with police on Chicago's city streets, to bombing the U.S. Capitol building, to breaking acid-guru Timothy Leary out of prison, this carefully organized clandestine network attempted to incite a national revolution, while successfully evading one of the largest FBI manhunts in history.
