Beirut, July 2006. Israeli bombings strike the city. While Beirut is still on fire, the filmmaker starts a journey across his native land. Using two complementary techniques, 16 mm film and HDV, the artist questions the deep foundations of the documentary genre. The eye of the cameras goes through a country in a state of terror, it records the immediate effects of war when it touches civilians.

In this documentary, the late 19th century birth of Zionism - and its repercussions for Palestinians- is detailed with original source documents, Zionist leaders' quotations, rare archival footage, testimonies of witnesses and interviews with historians. All help to illustrate that the expulsion of the indigenous Arab population from Palestine was far from an accidental result of the 1948 war.
