Impending Doom is a superb visual testimony and sonic interpretation of two funeral ceremonies that took place in Rome, that of Pope John Paul II, and in Lisbon, that of the communist leader Álvaro Cunhal, in 2005. Regardless of differing beliefs and ideologies, two communities share the feelings of pain, peace and magic in a world at war.

Impero is born from the need to bring together counter-information and journalistic rigor, continuing the operation that began with the radio spots "Iraq 2 special edition", "death for sale" and "the black mirror of democracy".

« Go and see what we left behind... » With these words in mind, a filmmaker journeys into a discovery of an almost abandoned and little known country: Albania. Her film is an impressionist journey, a moving tale cast in footprints, vivid memories and free thinking narration that takes an overview of the past sixty years of the country. The communist dictatorship seems to be jumbled up with the neo-liberal democracy which dominates every detail of daily life, the lost beauty of the landscapes and the limitless stories of emigration. Little by little, developing over various appearances, the film unveils a tormented country whose inhabitants are living more and more outward looking lives as they struggle to retain a sense of belonging in their own homeland.

“Nothing of importance has ever been communicated by being gentle with a public, not even one like that of the age of Pericles; and in the frozen mirror of the screen the spectators are not looking at anything that might suggest the respectable citizens of a democracy. But most importantly: this particular public, which has been so totally deprived of freedom and which has tolerated every sort of abuse, deserves less than any other to be treated gently.”

Iirgu is an elder from the Siberian Yupik Eskimo village of Gambell on St. Lawrence Island. As two grandchildren listen, Iirgu recounts events in Gambell from the time the first missionaries arrived. His story is known as an ungipamsuk or true historical narrative. With ambivalent feelings, he describes more recent changes - how whaling practices have changed, how life has become easier, but also how younger generations are losing touch with the old ways.
