“I live on the campus of the Gaston Berger University at Saint Louis, Senegal. I have met there Africans from different parts of the continent. Of all these friends, one of them, a Senegalese, has stuck in my mind. He was the first to speak to me of my difference, the fact that I come from Central Africa. He let me become acquainted with his society, its taboos. Today I do not know where he is. I just know that one day he left on a pirogue headed for Europe. From his absence came the desire to make a film on our meeting, our differences, the places we crossed, the friends we knew.”

xxx simo sinopsi frnaces: Je réside au campus de l’Université Gaston Berger à Saint-Louis du Sénégal. J’y ai rencontré des Africains de divers horizons. Parmi tous ces amis, l’un d’eux, d’origine sénégalaise, m’est resté dans l’esprit. Il a été le premier à me parler de ma différence, du fait que je viens d’Afrique centrale. Il m’a fait connaître sa société, ses tabous. Aujourd’hui, je ne sais pas où il est. Je sais juste qu’un jour, il est parti sur une pirogue en direction de l’Europe. De son absence est né mon désir de faire un film sur notre rencontre, nos différences, les lieux que nous avons traversés, les amis que nous avons connus.
