A document about the ritual of a religious service; faith and ecstasy as means of survival in the Puerto Rican community of the South Bronx, in New York.

Long suppressed by missionaries and then by Soviet anti-religious campaigns, Siberian shamanism has experienced an unprecedented revival following the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the number of shamans continues to rise. But who are these new shamans? Are they tricksters, magicians, businessmen, or cultural activists? This film takes a behind-thescenes look at a Buryat shaman living on an island in Lake Baikal as he moves between intimate shamanic rituals performed for local clientele and shows performed at various resorts for Western tourists in search of “primitive” cultures.

Serpent Mother is about devotion to the Goddess of Snakes and the importance of divine female power in West Bengal Indian life. The film's focus is the Jhapan Festival, the great celebration of snakes. It shows the festival preparations, the role of traditional arts and crafts in the worship of the Goddess, devotional singing, and a demonstration of ritual action.

A sustained attempt to film a four-day ceremony concerned with the worship of Shiva. We are shown devotees of the God Shiva from the initial taking of the Sacred Thread through gradually intensifying action to the culmination in a variety of ascetic and self-denying practices. Devotees are also shown engaging in informal activities such as preparing food and listening to recitals of devotional songs by the famous mendicant Bauls of Bengal.

Various permutations and combinations of Abraham Zapruder's 8mm home movie footage of the assassination of JFK. My work is intended as an investigation of the footage as a visual, experiential, and cultural document. In the United States this footage is both notorious and invisible; seldom actually seen, it is very well known; when seen, it remains opaque. This work is intended to add a level of "transparency" to the original. It is set to Jajouka music in order to bring to the foreground the ritual aspects of this visual, mechanical, and media historical event. 6th Independent Vídeo & Interactive Phenomena Show
