UntitledEl Perro Negro - Stories from the Spanish Civil War is a poetic collage of homemade movies, captured almost involuntary by amateur artists. Joan Salvans i Piera and Joan Ernesto Díaz Noriega are the two characters of this story: Ernesto, a middle class student in Madrid, who survives war; and Joan, a Catalan industrialist who is murdered six days after the outbreak of the conflict. Their films lead us through the Spain of the 30s and 40s.

"Dear Sis, I am sitting on the subway and all of a sudden I have this urge to write to you . . ." Here begins an apology letter written from one sister to another. Starting with the issue of sibling rivalry, the video is an examination of the connection and distinction between one person to the next -- taking us further to the greater subject of the humanity. The letter is an actual one I have written to my sister which was never sent. Images is filmed on subway train in New York City.
UntitledCrying Sun tells the story of people from the Chechen mountainous village of Zumsoy and their struggle to preserve their cultural identity and traditions in the context of military raids and enforced disappearances by the federal army, attacks by guerilla fighters, and subsequent displacement. By helping to articulate the voices of Zumsoy villagers in the public and policy spheres, the video calls on local and federal authorities to end impunity for human rights violations and to restore policies for the return of mountain villagers to their ancestral homes.
UntitledA documentary constructed from 8mm film footage found in a terrible state inside a caravan, which shows the Togni family and their circus from the 1930s and 40s to the 70s. Time and unfavourable conditions had deteriorated the film, which was stuck together, damp and dusty. New technologies allowed the filmmaker to recover almost all of the footage. UntitledAnnotations for a Work in Progress... In November 1994 I traveled from New York to Barcelona hoping to retain support film in what remained of the original Chinatown. One could say that at the time of my arrival in the neighborhood, this started to disappear. Currently it is being demolished and transformed following a massive urban redevelopment plan.
