In Nouakchott, the singer Malouma is a star, respected as much for her music as for her political views. Born of a family of griots, she breaks from tradition by tackling taboos subjects in Mauritania. Her free word brought her the censure during years, pushing her to export her music on the stages in the whole world. Introduced by an extract in concert filmed during the festival of Mixed-style Musics in Angouleme, the film follows the very first tour of Malouma within her own country and makes discover the enthusiasm of the public for her music. Between the concerts, Malouma invites us to share the roots of her creation. "Malouma, Diva of the Sands" ends with the concert of the singer in the "New Morning", prelude to her American Tour.
