Maam Kumba Bang is the spirit of the waters of the island of Saint Louis. Its mysterious and mythical presence governs the city and river and the collective imagination has built up a vivid picture around it. But only a few people can say that they have met this divinity. The film, through some accounts, re-evokes this ancient legend which continues to live.

xxx simo sinopsi en frances: Maam Kumba Bang est le génie de Saint Louis. Elle vit dans le fleuve Sénégal. Sa présence hante la ville et le fleuve, et tout un imaginaire collectif s’est construit autour d’elle. Pourtant elle demeure toujours mystérieuse, et rares sont les personnes qui peuvent affirmer l’avoir vue pour témoigner de son existence. Il s’agit pour moi de percer le mystère qui réellement entoure cette femme. Ce documentaire est alors la possibilité d’aller à sa recherche et peut-être de la rencontrer.
