The need to find a part of myself and renew cultural ties. This is what led me to Morocco, to a small Berber village, to become part of a family and enter into the private women's circle.

For more then 500 years indigenous people in Chiapas have been struggling to regain ownership of their lands. Until the Zapatista uprising in 1994, most indigenous people in Chiapas existed by working on large plantations for rich landowners. “The Sacred Land” describes what life was like on these plantations. It includes stories that go back four generations about slavery-like conditions in which people worked for the rancheros. Produced in the autonomous municipality of "November 17th" and edited by indigenous video makers, The Sacred Land helps provide a context for the events of 1994 through unique insight into the past. Community members reflect on how life has changed since 1994 and express their hopes and dreams for their collective future.

A new place in the world is revealed while Bea is confronted with loss and what she imagines will come. In the house that prepares itself to embrace change, fears dwell. An unforeseen loneliness also seems to be part of her desire, that of being a mother without a partner and a lesbian. Raquel films her attached to a time when the two shared the same idea of community. As Bea’s body changes, the camera moves between affection and distance. An attempt to get to know each other (again), and perhaps also a need to wonder about family, love, friendship and all those desires that overflow the limits of intimacy.

Made over six years in the hotels of six different countries, Hotel Diaries is a series of video recordings which relate personal experiences to the current conflicts in the Middle East. In these works, which play upon chance and co-incidence, the hotel room is employed as a 'found' film set, where the architecture, furnishing and decoration become the means by which the filmmaker's small adventures are linked to major world events. Works in the series include Frozen War (Ireland, 2001), Museum Piece (Germany, 2004), Throwing Stones (Switzerland, 2004), B & B (England, 2005), Pyramids/Skunk (The Netherlands 2006/7), Dirty Pictures (Palestine 2007) and Six Years Later (Ireland 2007).
