A documentary filmed in Andalucia, dealing with illegal immigration from Morocco. This politically far-sighted film tells the stories of these Moroccan immigrants and the shame and impotence they feel, unable to return home and reveal their failure to their families and friends. "When men cry..." is when they realize that they are in a dead-end street. A moment of unbearable suffering, beyond limits. The end of everything, the unspeakable. A cry from the soul that falls into the bland silence of a system that is too well organized and determined to buy their strength and their silence. A cry within absolute silence. An extreme situation in which it is impossible to leave, and impossible to stay.

In Pyramis, two different sources of light and two colours are modelling an object of concentrated composition. Blue light is building walls – surfaces, the red light is piercing through the blue, filling the inside of an architectural object. The film is constructing and deconstructing the composition of a pyramid. It shapes lights and colours – into spaces and masses. Creates real from abstract.

Made over six years in the hotels of six different countries, Hotel Diaries is a series of video recordings which relate personal experiences to the current conflicts in the Middle East. In these works, which play upon chance and co-incidence, the hotel room is employed as a 'found' film set, where the architecture, furnishing and decoration become the means by which the filmmaker's small adventures are linked to major world events. Works in the series include Frozen War (Ireland, 2001), Museum Piece (Germany, 2004), Throwing Stones (Switzerland, 2004), B & B (England, 2005), Pyramids/Skunk (The Netherlands 2006/7), Dirty Pictures (Palestine 2007) and Six Years Later (Ireland 2007).

“1970. The war in Vietnam is escalating. Nixon declares a state of national emergency, and - we presuppose in the film - activates the 1950 Internal Security Act (the McCarran Act), which authorizes Federal authorities, without reference to Congress, to detain persons judged to be ‘a risk to national security’. In a desert zone in southwest California, not far from the tents where a civilian tribunal is passing sentence on Group 638, the members of Group 637 (mostly university students) find themselves in Bear Mountain National Punishment Park… Group 637 has been promised liberty if its members manage to evade law enforcement officers and reach the American flag posted 53 miles away across the mountains within three days. Meanwhile, in the tribunal tent, members of Group 638 - assumed guilty before tried - endeavour in vain to argue their case for resisting the war in Vietnam. While they argue, amidst harassment by the members of the tribunal, the exhausted members of Group 637 have voted to split into three subgroups: those for a forced escape out of the Park, those who have given up, and those who are determined to reach the flag...”
