The earth, its fruits, its particular places and the traditional cultural practices of its people are sacred, material and immaterial assets shared by all. Food sovereignty is at the heart of the Cauca peasant women's and indigenous communities' peaceful struggle to achieve overall sovereignty. Barter is still one of their strategies.

The foundations for their consistent and self-managed organisation can be found in a deep sense of belonging marked by the manifestations of its indigenous, black and revolutionary roots.

Through the women, the video shows the struggle to attain a fair price for handmade products so that they can have a dignified life, give their children an education and continue with their resistance.

A Mapuche family has been forced off the land they were occupying in the province of Chabut, Patagonia, through a court injunction initiated by the Benetton Group. As a result of this experience the Mapuche people will reveal that they are still very much alive and willing to fight for their culture and traditional rights. This video is also an information tool to activate an international campaign against the Italian multinational, which owns 900,000 hectares of land in Argentina, making it the major landowner in what was once known as "the breadbasket of the world".
