An intimate dialogue with Soha Bechara, ex-Lebanese National Resistance fighter, in her Paris dorm room. The interview was taped during the last year of the Israeli occupation, one year after her release from captivity in El-Khiam torture and interrogation center (South Lebanon) where she had been detained for 10 years—six in isolation. Revising notions of resistance, survival, and will, the overexposed image of the survivor speaks quietly and directly to the camera—not speaking of the torture, but of separation amd loss; of what is left behind and what remains.

Soraida is a Palestinian woman who lives in Ramallah, in the occupied territories. This video captures her personal struggle to retain her humanity in the midst of oppression. In her neighbourhood, the women do not all wear veils, the men do not rattle off empty political slogans, and the young people do not have bombs strapped to their belts. Life goes on despite the curfews and checkpoints that confine the people in a barless cage. Soraida invites us into her world, and that of her family and neighbours. Through their simple, everyday actions, we discover the worst thing about living under a state of siege: the loss of control over one's own life. In this vibrant plea against the occupation, Soraida shares her reflections on life in Palestine and her refusal to give in to the hate and violence.
UntitledDeir Jassin Remembered considers the repercussions of the largely forgotten massacre of almost 100 Palestinians in 1948. The massacre at Deir Yassin was pivotal to Palestinian dispossession.
September 11, 2001 ushered in a new world order that extended to the age-old practice of torture. In this new paradigm, torture is seen as necessary – and therefore justifiable – in the war against terrorism. Furthermore, victims have no rights, they do not exist for legal purposes and can simply disappear in long secret flights to unknown destinations. This documentary traces the story of some survivors of this globalised torture who spent time in places like Abu Ghraib, Bagram, and Guantanamo. And for those who still think that the Abu Ghraib photos were a one-off situation, an isolated case, it takes us on a journey back in time, to Argentina and Guatemala, and even to the Middle Ages and the Holy Inquisition.
