A visual essay without voice-over or dialogue, "Himself He Cooks" shows 24 hours inside the kitchen of Golden Temple, the Sikh's most important place of worship in Amritsar, where every day 100.000 free meals are prepared for the visiting pilgrims. Through the choreography of hundreds of voluntary helpers, the films offers an "insights into the meaning of charity and philanthropy and is a profound meditation on food as the nexus of culture, nature and human necessity" (The Margaret Mead Film Festival, N.Y.).
