The voice of Catherine is recorded over manipulated images of women from soap operas. The two juxtaposed discourses, the voice of Catherine and the soap opera images, contradict and identify, confront and reach out, oppose and support each other. Feelings as primordial and sophisticated as life itself. 3 Mostra de Vídeo Independent de Barcelona 1996.
The attempts of some women to tell their dreams and find meaning in them, looking for what they might reflect in terms of their life or social situation, reveals a different face and a different image of Egyptian women. This image may have nothing to do with the stereotypes about Arabic women, who are usually presented to us as submissive, without the power or the desire to change their situation. The women in this video show the extent to which this image is distorted and far from the reality. This doesn't mean that the reality is completely different or better, but it is certainly much more complex, full of contradictions that affect all women and place them between what is socially "moral" or "acceptable" and the challenges of a life that demands much more responsibility and strength in order to face the social and financial pressures on a daily basis. Each woman is looking for a way out or a change, even if for the moment the confrontation is at a personal level

The sun does not always shine in Barcelona, the “best shop in the world” according to the slogan of a City Council campaign. The thousands of tourists who visit Barcelona every month boost the city's economy, but their social and human impact is often overlooked. The precarious nature of jobs in tourism, real estate pressure from the hotels, and the types of problems that crop up when a city turns into a kind of theme park in an attempt to seduce outsiders. The classic problems of global capitalism, reflected in one of the country's major industries... “BCN Thematic Park” talks about all this... about Barcelona, a city-advertisement that is turning into the newest theme park on the international market.
