Out of Place is a deeper look at representation and self-representation, concentrating on aspects such as the concept of cultural identity as an ideal, a fantasy, as something that can be constructed. This video is the third part of the Palestine Project.

Two opposing September elevens and related cross. September 11th 1973, military push in Chile. The tape explores the trans-textuality of memory while making an implicit critique of mass media and their depiction of violence. The fissure between these two aspects, as well as the friction between present, memory and historical pass, is the site from which the video sets itself forth.

I drift for several hours in the streets of Santiago in Chile, camera in the hand. In a district close to the Palace of Moneda, a man stands rigidly in the middle of the footpath. His body has become numb from years of solitude and suffering. Only the occasional glance from frightened passers-by connects him to society.
