The four stories in this film take us from Belgium to the banks of the Senegal River, from the French Ardennes to the mountains of the Western Sahara. What they have in common is that they lead us to meet the sleepers. Men and women moving between two worlds, that of the absent and that of the living, between two states, that of waking and that of sleep. In each of these stories lies a mystery free from all belief, all philosophy, all attempts at explanation. A mystery capable of reenchanting reality.  

Those who suffer from the melancholy of eternity are called eternals. Convinced that death cannot take their lives, they believe they are condemned to wander around waiting for the day when they will be released from their existence. This film is a tale of wanderings and escapes, on the borders of Nagorno-Karabakh, an Armenian enclave in Azerbaijan. Inhabited by the ghosts of the genocide and by the war that has been raging there for more than twenty years, the characters who traverse this film carry within them the melancholy of the eternal.

A young woman and a prisoner wish to express theirselves through their favourite media: writings for him, video for her. This film tells the story of an encounter between two worlds: between the city and prison, between absence and body, between isolation and someone, humiliation and desire.

The tourmente (blizzard ) is a snowstorm that disorients and leads astray. In French, it is also the name given to a melancholy caused by the harshness and length of winters. Wherever this storm blows, men erected bell towers to call back the lost. And shepherds, in the course of their transhumance, used their flocks to invoke lost or forgotten souls. Guided by the bells of a herd and by the evocations of the lost, this film is a journey through the tourmoils; those of the mountains and of the winter, those of bodies and of the souls, those which reveal to us that what nature cannot obtain from our reason, it obtains from our madness.

A well-liked priest suddenly decides to leave everything behind his parish, his friends, his country, and head towards an uncertain destiny. Through the personal journey of a man, a thirst for inner truth is revealed.

In a confined space a dancer works out a routine through trial and error and experimentation, gradually giving it shape and bringing it to life. Playing on formal juxtapositions and the fragmentation of time, the film casts a direct, intimate and silent glance on this body in motion. Meanderings recounts the fragile and relentless, transient and almost indescribable process of creation – from sketched inception to representation.
