Guided by the experimental sound poem 'Africa Started' by the Brooklyn-based poet Tracie Morri, the film crosses the urbab landscape to reach the memorial dedicated to the victims of the Newark rebellion. One woman, witness to the events of the summer of 1967, reads the names of the dead and tells the story of her friend, Eloise Spellman.
